Gettin’ Groggy in Taylors, SC
Taylors, SC – 13 Stripes Brewery and The Farehouse at Taylors Mill. This 1924 mill was The Southern Bleachery (an industrial textile bleaching mill) and Piedmont Print Works that has stood the test of time, through the great depression and WWII, to became Taylors Mills which now hosts 13 Stripes Brewery, The Farehouse, The Blue Ox Hatchett House, Pinky’s Revenge Arcade (and lots of other stuff). We had a great time exploring this huge warehouse haven… you can just see and feel the history in these old bricks.
Our first stop was (of course) 13 Strips Brewery for an excellent Southern Street Belgian Triple and then
went next door to The Farehouse for dinner. The entire menu looked appetizing but we decided on the
shrimp & grits, and the smoked pork belly & potatoes. I must say, I’m from Colorado but DAMN the
South has good food!! Whoever invented shrimp and grits and pork belly did us all a solid (same goes
for bread pudding and BBQ)!
After dinner we walked across the parking lot to Blue Ox for some good old fashioned AX throwing
I was hooked from the first toss… much to the dismay of my date, who just stood back while I repeatedly
threw the ax until I hit the bullseye! WOW FUN. And maybe just a bit therapeutic!
