Gettin’ Groggy in Chimney Rock, NC

Chimney Rock, NC – Climb the many steps up 315’ tall Chimney Rock and see the magnificent sprawling Hickory Nut Gorge OR skip the hike and go straight to the Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery??

Located at the end of town and across the street from Burntshirt Vineyards Tasting Room, you can sit on one of many outdoor decks overlooking the Rocky Broad River and drink your brewski. Hickory Nut Brewery serves a nice variety of English style beers – I tried the Hickory Witch Pumpkin Spice… delicious!! (This is the best time of year to try pumpkin ales and Octoberfest seasonal beers). The inside tap room is cozy with cool twisted pine tables and chairs and as for food, the day I was there, only two items were on the menu a steak hoagie and a Cubano sandwich… I had the Cubano and it was very good.

The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is located between Chimney Rock and Lake Lure and is worth the stop! Get your camera ready because there are a million photos to be taken in this garden oasis spanning the length of the 155’ bridge, 30 whimsical gardens with seasonal themes that is run entirely by volunteers! I was there for the Autumn or Halloween theme and it was pure fun!
